Letter: Looking out for county taxpayers

I was reading the April 2 Daily Globe article illustrating wind turbine proceeds being used to lower property taxes of residents in neighboring counties.

I was reading the April 2 Daily Globe article illustrating wind turbine proceeds being used to lower property taxes of residents in neighboring counties. I wondered why this isn’t being done for the residents of Nobles County. It didn’t even merit consideration; instead, using the proceeds for roads was mentioned. If the policies of this county don’t favor or reflect their tax base, then who do they favor?

Also, in reading the April 11 article “Ruppert’s request turned down,” it is stated, “I think it’s terrible we don’t pay his bills. I assume “we” means the taxpayers, who are struggling under added property tax costs. If this commissioner wants to pay his costs, get your checkbook out and leave the rest of us alone.
