PREP GIRLS' AND BOYS' TRACK AND FIELD: Cardinals win 11 events at Pipestone Invitational

PIPESTONE — Luverne led the way Saturday at the Pipestone track and field invitational.
The Cardinals had five winner in the boys’ division and six winners in the girls’ division.
Bo Biever (22.53 seconds) took first at 200 meters, Cody Hess (11 minutes, 9.22 seconds) finished first at 1,600 meters, Jackson Winter, Daniel Muller, Biever and Jon Ehde won the 4x100 (45.59) and the 4x200 (1:33.26) relays and Cody Rofshus won the shot put (46 feet, 7.5 inches) to lead the way for the Cardinal boys.
For the Cardinal girls, Tayla Peterson won the 100 meters (13.72) and the 200 meters (27.79), Kaitlin Wohnoutka (2:29.18) won at 800 meters, Makayla Hohn won at 1,600 meters (5:33.14), Erin Sietsema, Kynzie Smedsrud, Jaidyn Elbers and Tayla Peterson won the 4x200 relay (1:52.33), Madi Schandelmeier, Paige Nath, Anna Tofteland and Makayla Hohn won the 4x800 relay (10:12.12) to lead Luverne.
Hills-Beaver Creek had three winners in the girls’ division, as Siera Wilgenburg won at 400 meters (1:01.74), Natalie Leuthold, Paige Leuthold, Haley VanWyhe and Wilgenburg won the 4x100 relay (54.07) and Jenna Wilgenburg, Kayla Thone, VanWyhe, and Siera Wilgenburg won the 4x400 relay (4:21.20) for the Patriots.
Morgan DeRuyter won at 3,200 meters (13:56.45) and Hannah Van Dyke won the 300-meter hurdles (49) for Southwest Christian and Hannah Steele won the shot put (40 feet) and the discus (130 feet, 9 inches) for Windom Area.
Pipestone Area’s Tia Muller won the 100-meter hurdles (16.14) to round out the area winners in the girls’ division.
Murray County Central’s Jack Thony (11.52) won at 100 meters, Fulda’s Nate Getting won at 800 meters (2:09.32), SWC’s Austin LaFollette (43.26) won the 300-meter hurdles, Aaron Kozlowski (16.54) won the 110-meter hurdles and the discus (137 feet, five inches) for Pipestone Area and Victor Ogeka won the long jump (19 feet, 10.25 inches) for Windom Area to round out the winners for the boys.
