Once again, people in Worthington and the surrounding area joined together Tuesday night to assist a more than worthy cause.
The seventh annual fundraiser dinner for Sunset Hospice Cottage took place at Worthington’s American Reformed Church, and — as is commonly the case — the event was a sellout. More than 400 people attended the fundraiser, which included a catered meal, live entertainment, and both silent and live auctions.
Sunset Hospice Cottage, which offers its facilities to hospice patients who are no longer able to remain at home (for much more, see its website at hospicecottage.com), relies heavily on donations to keep going. Tuesday night’s fundraiser was special because of the large crowd as well as the assistance of table, event and grand-prize sponsors (Merck Animal Health, Runnings and W-2’s Meats donated grand prizes of a week’s vacation at Bowstring Shores Resort, a 50-inch flat-screen HDTV and a gas grill with beef bundles). A total of 35 auction items originated from local individuals and businesses, too.
Hats off to the many, many people that helped Tuesday to support a quality organization in Sunset Hospice Cottage.
