Accidents

SUPERIOR, Iowa — The Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motorcycle crash at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of 320th Avenue, north of Superior. Vernon D. Handevidt, 23, of Trimont, was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle northbound when a deer ran into the roadway. Handevedt attempted to miss the deer and lost control of the motorcycle. He was ejected from the motorcycle, landed on the pavement and skid for several feet. He was transported by ambulance with incapacitating injuries to Lakes Regional Healthcare and then flown by helicopter to Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. The motorcycle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage. The accident remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Spirit Lake Ambulance, Superior Fire & Rescue and the Iowa State Patrol.

Ambulance

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Ambulance was paged at 7:12 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of 10th Avenue and Turner Street for a male who fell from his bicycle.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Ambulance was paged at 1:44 p.m. Thursday to 1440 N. Burlington Ave., for a female who was experiencing difficulty breathing.

Fire

BEAVER CREEK — The Beaver Creek Fire Department was paged to a machinery fire at 315 131st St at 5:54 p.m. Thursday. An elevator that was on fire was quickly extinguished.

Police

ELLSWORTH — The Nobles County Sheriff’s Office investigated at 5:33 p.m. Tuesday the report of a dog bite in the 400 block of Mulberry Street. A six-year-old child was bitten.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department responded to a domestic at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of College Way.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated a report of property damage at 9:46 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Fifth Avenue.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated a theft of gas at 11:13 a.m. Thursday at Casey’s General Store West.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated a school bus stop arm violation at 12:26 p.m. Thursday on McMillan Street.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department warned an adult male for harassing communications at 3:02 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Okabena Street.
