Letter: Drivers helped make WHS prom successful

On behalf of the Worthington Noon Kiwanis Club, I want to thank each and every chaperone that volunteered Saturday night to make the 2012 prom a successful evening.

Thanks to more than 70 drivers, a total of 244 students were successfully and safely chaperoned from their homes to the prom event at Worthington High School, and safely driven home at 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

This has been a Worthington Noon Kiwanis project for more than 50 years. When the student count was down and the Kiwanis membership was up, the club supported the numbers to make this a club-only event.

Lately, we have had to go outside our membership to secure the number of drivers needed. It is to those drivers that the Worthington Noon Kiwanis Club wishes to extend a big thank you. Without these drivers, the project would not have been successful.

In closing, I want to extend an appreciation to club members Jess Noble and John Standafer for coordinating the drivers this year. On behalf of the Worthington Noon Kiwanis Club, we would like to offer our services for many years to come.
