PREP GOLF: Trojan boys’ and girls’ golf teams defeat Arrows

PIPESTONE — Worthington’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams swept Pipestone Area Monday, as the Trojan boys used their lowest score in over a decade to knock off the Arrows 158-169 and the girls defeated the Arrows by default.

WHS’s Alex Kremer led the way, earning medalist honors with a 36 behind two birdies, two bogeys and the rest going for par. Will Mulder shot a 38, Seth Meier put up a 40 on the day and Jake Woll notched a 44 to lead the Trojans. Zach Heidebrink had a 45 and Jacob Weg added a 51 as well.

“The boys stayed very focused today and it showed in our four scores,” WHS coach Ron Wood said. “I’m really proud of them.”

On the girls’ side, the Trojans shot a 191. Kate Lesnar was the medalist with a 41, while Morgan Harberts chipped in a 49, Mariah Haffield hit a 50 and McKenzie Hurley had a 51 on the day. Genna Putnam added a 55 and Tyree Murray had a 56 on the day for the Trojans.

“They turned their scores around from the 209 they shot against (Jackson County Central),” Wood said. “They struggled putting, but it was good to see them back at their averages.”

WHS hosts Windom Friday.

W-WG 157, Fulda 167, Adrian 187

WESTBROOK — Dana Madson led the way for Westbrook-Walnut Grove’s boys’ golf team, shooting a 38 to earn medalist honors. Taylor Lindaman added 39 and Reed Bakken and Aaron Hass chipped in 40s to lead W-WG Monday.

Mitch Baumhoefner shot a 40, Todd Peterson and Austin Clarke notched 41s and Michale Holinka added a 45 to lead Fulda.

Adrian was led by Justin Elias’ 43, Ben Henning’s 47, Collin Kemper’s 49 and Coltin Klosterman’s 50.

Fulda 195, W-WG 208, Adrian 212

WESTBROOK — Tessa Kramer shot a 42 to earn medalist honors, Sarah Strenge shot a 47, Caitlin Strenge shot a 51 and Mallory Pagel shot a 55 to lead Fulda’s girls’ golf team to victory Monday.

Avoree Bakken scored a 48, Abby Herding and Paige Erickson notched 49s and Deziree Koenig shot a 62 for Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

For Adrian, Marissa Veld shot a 44, Katie Wieneke shot a 48, MacKenzie Wagner added a 58 and Sam Boyle rounded out the scoring with a 62.

H-BC 187, RL-B 213

WORTHINGTON — Cody Ellefson earned co-medalist honors, shooting a 42 and leading Hills-Beaver Creek’s boys’ golf team to victory Monday.

Caleb Schroer shot a 47 and Austin Rauk and Wyatt Ellefson added 49s for the Patriots.

Kyle Wendland earned co-medalist honors, shooting a 42 for Round Lake-Brewster, while Logan Ellenbecker chipped ina 57, Colin Meinders added a 48 and Lee Marki notched a 66 for R-LB.

H-BC will be at W-WG Thursday.

Windom 165, St. James 180

SAINT JAMES — Adam Eisenmenger shot a 40, Tom Elness shot a 41 and Dylan Pigman and Kyle Antes hit 42s to lead Windom in boys’ golf action Monday.

Windom 183, St. James 219

SAINT JAMES — Megan Will led the way with a 39, while Miki Bolin added a 47, Marissa Cartwright shot a 48 and Kelsey Hanefield hit a 49 to lead Windom’s girls’ golf team Monday.
