PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Giese and Blomgren each drive in two to lead Murray County Central to 9-5 win

ELLSWORTH — Murray County Central knocked off Adrian Area in softball action Tuesday.

Ashley Clarke gave up three earned runs in seven innings, while striking out seven, to get the win on the mound for MCC (7-4), while Makenzie Giese was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, Kenda Blomgren had two RBIs and a double and Sophie Nepp had an RBI and a double at the plate for the Rebels.

Nine Weidert was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Heidi Nolte had a single and an RBI and Sam Croat was 1-for-1 with three walks, a run and an RBI to lead Adrian Area (2-8).

MCC will host Red Rock Central/Westbrook Walnut Grove Thursday and Adrian Area will travel to Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Thursday.

SANBORN — Katie Dusek scored on a wild pitch in the third, Kali Davis scored Klarissa Larsen on a double in the fourth and Larsen drove in Fern Engen on a sacrifice fly in the fifth to lead Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove (2-7) to victory over Southwestern United (2-11) in softball action Tuesday.

Aubrey Willhite struck out four to get the win on the mound for RRC/W-WG.

Ida Rogers-Ferguson struck out seven and walked two on the mound for SWU.

RRC/W-WG will be at Murray County Central Thursday and SWU will host Edgerton/Southwest Christian Thursday.
