PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Rebels stay perfect in RRC

SLAYTON — Murray County Central took on the five-time defending Red Rock Conference champion Adrian in baseball action Tuesday and showed why the Rebels are currently atop the conference, knocking off the Dragons 15-3 in five innings.

SLAYTON — Murray County Central took on the five-time defending Red Rock Conference champion Adrian in baseball action Tuesday and showed why the Rebels are currently atop the conference, knocking off the Dragons 15-3 in five innings.

Trent Carlson led the way for MCC (7-1, 6-0), going 3-for-3 with a double, triple and six RBIs. Austin Kluis was 2-for-4 and Sam Erickson struck out four in his five innings of work on the mound for the Rebels.

Mitchell Sieve had a double and an RBI, as did Jake Diekmann and Jake Tiede for Adrian (4-6, 2-3).

MCC will travel to Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday and Adrian will host Mountain Lake/Butterfield Odin Thursday.

HERON LAKE — Daniel Maras was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Jake Comnick was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Henry Rogotzke was 1-for-3 with an RBI-double, Brian Hagberg and Brady Bierl each had two RBIs and Taylor Volmer struck out five in six innings to get the win for Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove (7-4, 3-2) Tuesday in RRC conference baseball action.

Austin Liepold, Kyle Elder and Luke Henkels were each 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Aaron Fest gave up one hit and struck out five in five innings of relief for Southwestern United (0-11, 0-5).

SWU will play Thursday at Edgerton/Southwest Christian and RRC/W-WG will host Murray County Central Thursday.

WINDOM — Andy Pfeffer (1-for-3, run), Danny Kneeland (1-for-4), Brandon Thongvivong (2-for-3), Tim Larson (run) and Collin Lovell (1-for-3) each had an RBI, but it wasn’t enough in the baseball game versus Redwood Valley Tuesday.

Jake Holt was 2-for-3 with two runs and Travis Janssen was 2-for-3 with one run to help pace Windom.
