Letter: Baseball team showed class by attending funeral

On Tuesday, April 24, Michael Ahrens was laid to rest after battling cancer. The reason I am writing this letter is to let others know about how the University of Wisconsin-Superior baseball team and coaching staff attended Mike’s funeral.

On Tuesday, April 24, Michael Ahrens was laid to rest after battling cancer. The reason I am writing this letter is to let others know about how the University of Wisconsin-Superior baseball team and coaching staff attended Mike’s funeral. Joe, Mike and Paula’s son, attends the University of Wisconsin-Superior and is on the baseball team.

I thought this was such an amazing learning experience for those young men. I believe they must have left Worthington with the feelings of compassion and pride by being there for their teammate. I also believe their coach, Eddy Morgan, showed them that baseball and winning isn’t all there is to life.
