PREP SOFTBALL: Kontz, Adrian Area shut out ML/B-O

MOUNTAIN LAKE — It was a pitching duel between Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin and Adrian Area Thursday in softball action, as the Dragons prevailed in the Red Rock Conference showdown for a 2-0 victory.

Rachel Kontz won the pitching duel between her and Janessa Peters, as Kontz threw a complete game shutout, striking out eight and walking none for Adrian Area (3-8, 2-4).

Courtney Vaske was 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI, Kayla Lonneman was 2-for-4 with two singles and Nina Weidert was 1-for-2 with an RBI to help lead Adrian Area.

Peters gave up two earned runs on eight walks and five hits, while striking out seven and going the distance for ML/B-O (4-9, 2-4). McKenzie Hopwood was 1-for-3 with a single and Paige Brown was 1-for-3 with a single for the Wolverines as well.

ML/B-O will host Murray County Central Tuesday and Adrian Area will play in the Windom tournament today.
