PREP BASEBALL: Windom cruises by Saint James 13-3

SAINT JAMES — Windom dropped eight runs in the top of the first inning versus St. James en route to a 13-3 victory in baseball action Friday.

SAINT JAMES — Windom dropped eight runs in the top of the first inning versus St. James en route to a 13-3 victory in baseball action Friday.

Travis Janssen was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs, Zach Bartosh was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs and Danny Kneeland was 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the way for Windom (4-11). Andy Pfeffer was 2-for-4 with a run, Jacob Johnson and Brandon Thongvivong scored two runs, Jake Holt was 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, Collin Lovell had a run and an RBI and Tim Larson scored a run to help pace the Eagles.

Holt got the win on the mound, giving up two hits and walking two, while striking out three in four innings of work.

Windom will travel to Luverne Monday.

SWU wins Game 1, Game 2 is postponed versus ML/B-O

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Southwestern United’s baseball team took Game 1 versus Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin 9-6 Thursday.

Riley Place got the win on the mound, giving up three earned runs and two walks, while striking out seven for SWU. Luke Henkels was 4-for-4 with two RBIs on a double and a solo homer, Jacob Post was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Jacob Olson was 1-for-4 with two runs and Justin Jass was 2-for-4 for the Wildcats (2-13, 2-6).

Game 2 of the doubleheader was suspened due to darkness with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning with the bases full of Wildcats and ML/B-O holding on to a 13-12 lead. No date has been scheduled to finish the game.
