WHS BOYS' TENNIS: WHS sweeps Redwood Valley 7-0

REDWOOD FALLS — Worthington’s boys’ tennis squad moved to 8-2 with a clean sweep of Redwood Valley Friday, as the Trojans won 7-0.

REDWOOD FALLS — Worthington’s boys’ tennis squad moved to 8-2 with a clean sweep of Redwood Valley Friday, as the Trojans won 7-0.

Dan Wetering took No. 1 singles, knocking off Taylor Rebstock 6-1, 6-1, Lance Homan won No. 2 singles over Tyler Hagen 6-1, 6-1, Carter Lindner knocked off Max Russell at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Andrew Johnson swept Shawn Sherman at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 for the Trojans.

In doubles action, Jonah Oberloh and Matt Sorensen defeated Ben Schmidt and Dallas Greenslit 6-2, 6-0, Dillon Pedersen and A.J. Hayenga swept Armando Davila and Cole Pettis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles and Travis Vuong and Nick Newman won by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.

In JV action Ben Doeden won 8-3, Vuong and Pedersen won 8-3, Jonah McDonald won 6-0, 6-0 and 8-3 and paired up with Pedersen to win 8-0.

“We’re tweeking our lineup a little as we go,” WHS coach Mike Marquardt said. “We’re coming to close of the season with sections right around the corner.

“We still have to keep focused and hit our shots. We can’t relax. You have to play hard no matter who you play. We play Lac Qui Parle Valley Monday, looking at the No. 2 seed at section.”

WHS will host Lac Qui Parle Valley Monday before closing out the regular season versus Blue Earth Area Tuesday.
