To recognize and thank all school personnel for their dedication and commitment to the young people of America, the AARP Driver Safety program is proud to offer classroom courses at a reduced fee. These classes will be offered during July and August 2012. The fee will be $5 for either class, which is a savings of up to $9 off normal course prices.
For the first time participants or those who have not taken a Driver Safety course in the past three years, an eight-hour class is required. For those who have taken a Driver Safety course during the past three years, a four-hour class will be offered.
Participants will be asked to complete a simple coupon in the classroom. We will not require any form of evidence that they are actually a current school employee or a past school employee. This promotion includes administrators, teachers, secretaries, custodians, cafeteria workers, etc.
Please remember that in Minnesota, drivers of age 55 or over who take these courses are entitled to a 10 percent automobile safe driver insurance discount for three years.
These classes will be open to people who are not or were not school employees, but they will be charged normal AARP Driver Safety tuition. Each class will be limited to approximately 25 students.
Pre-registration is required and can be done by calling Community Education at 376-6105
Classes will be at West Learning Center (formerly the West Elementary Building). Be sure to tell the person registering you that you are or were a school employee. Class times are: Eight-hour course — 6 p.m. July 17 and 19; Four-hour course — 6 p.m. July 12 and noon Aug. 21.
