PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Edgerton/Southwest Christian clinches RRC with 10-2 win

EDGERTON — Scoring six runs in the fifth inning Tuesday afternoon, the Edgerton/Southwest Christian Flying Dutchmen clinched the 2012 Red Rock Conference high school softball championship with a 10-2 victory over the Adrian Area Dragons.

EDGERTON — Scoring six runs in the fifth inning Tuesday afternoon, the Edgerton/Southwest Christian Flying Dutchmen clinched the 2012 Red Rock Conference high school softball championship with a 10-2 victory over the Adrian Area Dragons.

Sarah Post (three runs), Jessica Menning (two-run triple), Breana VanDyke and Brittani Roskamp each had two hits for the Flying Dutchmen, who finished the regular season 15-3 overall and 9-1 in league action.

Kayla Lonneman (double) and Sam Croat (2-for-3) led the Dragons at the plate. AA finishes the regular season with a record of 4-13 overall and 2-8 in the conference.

MCC 19, SWU 8

BREWSTER — Kenda Blomgren (two RBIs), Makenzie Giese (three RBIs) and Kristi Bose (two RBIs) each had three hits to lead Murray County Central past Southwestern United in a Red Rock Conference softball game Tuesday.

MCC (12-6, 8-2) finished in second place in the conference standings and will play at Pipestone Area Thursday.

Connor DeWall and Janae Vonk each had a base hit and scored two runs for SWU (5-16, 3-7), which will play either Friday or Tuesday in the Section 3A tournament.

SANBORN — Margaret Kispert (3-for-4) and McKenzie Hopwood (2-for-4) led Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin to a Red Rock Conference victory over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Tuesday.

Katie Dusek was 2-for-3 for RRC/W-WG (4-14, 4-6), which hosts Cedar/Mountain Comfrey Thursday.

ML/B-O (7-11, 4-6) plays at Springfield Thursday.
