PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Wolverines beat Falcons to tie for 2nd in RRC

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Scoring three runs in both the second and fourth innings Tuesday afternoon, the Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Wolverines claimed an 8-4 victory over the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Falcons in a Red Rock Conference high school baseball game.
ML/B-O (10-8, 6-4) and RRC/W-WG (10-7, 6-4) finish tied for second place in the conference standings.
Cody Penner went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and also pitched four innings to earn the win for the Wolverines. Beau Herrig was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Daniel Maras (2-for-2) and Jacob Comnick (3-for-3, triple and two RBIs) led the Falcons at the plate.
ML/B-O will host Minneota/Lincoln HI Monday, while RRC/W-WG hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Thursday.

EDGERTON — Mitchell Sieve was 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and a triple Tuesday, sparking the Adrian Dragons to a Red Rock Conference high school baseball victory over the Edgerton/Southwest Christian Flying Dutchmen.
Nick Reyne (solo home run), Jacob Diekmann (double), Jake Tiede and Logan Rogers each had two hits for Adrian, as well. The Dragons scored eight runs in the final three innings to erase a 4-1 deficit.
Tiede earned the win on the mound, tossing three innings in relief of Sieve (two innings). Reyne pitched the final two innings for the Dragons.
Devin Jouwstra (four innings), Luke Nibbelink (two innings) and Travis Pierson (one inning) each saw mound duty for the Flying Dutchmen.
Damon Vander Maten was 2-for-4 with a double, and Derek Claar had a pair of base hits, while Dominic Nibbelink and Gabe Vander Veen each drove in two runs for E/SWC.
Adrian (6-10, 4-6) plays at Luverne Monday, while E/SWC (3-10, 3-7) is at Luverne Thursday.

REDWOOD FALLS — Taylor Christopher went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in addition to stealing four bases and scoring three runs Tuesday, helping the Jackson County Central Huskies to a Southwest Conference high school baseball victory over the Redwood Valley Cardinals.
JCC (11-4, 8-2), which scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh to break things open, is currently tied with Marshall for the league lead and will host the Tigers in a key doubleheader Thursday (4 p.m.) at Wacker Field.
Cooper Moore went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored, while Carsen Nyborg was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for JCC. Tanner Menke (1-for-2, double, five RBIs) and Zach Copley (2-for-6, two RBIs) also had big days at the plate for the Huskies.
Christopher (3 1/3 innings, four strikeouts and one walk) and Brett Larson (3 2/3 innings, two strikeouts and three walks) split the pitching duties for JCC, with Larson picking up the win.
