JACKSON — Jackson County Central needed a sweep of a doubleheader with Marshall Thursday to lock up the Southwest Conference in baseball action. The Huskies were three outs away, but dropped Game 2 in the final inning 7-6, after winning Game 1 in the final inning 8-7.

JCC (12-5, 9-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 1 to take the game 8-7. Dustin Pronk (3-for-3, three runs, two RBIs) hit a two-run double and Taylor Christopher worked a one-out walk with the bases loaded to score Pronk and give JCC the win.

In Game 2, Brett Larson hit a grand slam with two outs in the top of the seventh to give JCC a 6-5 lead headed into the final frame, but the Tigers scored two in the bottom of the seventh to keep their hopes of being co-champion of the SWC alive.

Tanner Menke was 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, Carsen Nyberg was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run for JCC.

JCC (12-5, 9-3) and Marshall are co-champions of the SWC, as long as Worthington doesn’t sweep Redwood Valley in a doubleheader Monday.

JCC will host Martin County West today.
