SLAYTON — Cody Christensen and Joey Slieter were both 2-for-3 with an RBI Tuesday afternoon, leading the Luverne Cardinals to a 5-1 victory over the Murray County Central Rebels in a non-conference high school baseball game.
Brett Heronimus was the winning pitcher for Luverne (14-6), which plays Jackson County Central in the Section 3AA tournament Saturday (1 p.m.) in Fairmont.
Nate Wieneke took the loss on the mound and also had an RBI single for MCC (11-5), which hosts either Edgerton/Southwest Christian or Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in the Section 3A tournament Saturday (11 a.m.).

TYLER — Jacob Comnick was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and five runs scored Tuesday, helping the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Falcons earn a 15-12 victory over the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights in a non-conference high school baseball game.
Taylor Vollmer (3-for-5), Jeff DeCock (2-for-3, three RBIs) and Dylan Bunting (2-for-4) also had multi-hit days for the Falcons, while Bryan Bierl pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win on the mound.
RRC/W-WG (11-8) plays Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in the Section 3AA tournament Saturday (1 p.m.) in Montevideo.
