SECTION 3AA SOFTBALL: JCC beats Luverne, but falls to New Ulm in 3AA

NEW ULM — Caitlin Muir’s RBI single up the middle plated Marita Rasche with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday, lifting the third-seeded Jackson County Central Huskies to a 5-4 victory over the sixth-seeded Luverne Cardinals in the Section 3AA South high school softball tournament.

NEW ULM — Caitlin Muir’s RBI single up the middle plated Marita Rasche with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday, lifting the third-seeded Jackson County Central Huskies to a 5-4 victory over the sixth-seeded Luverne Cardinals in the Section 3AA South high school softball tournament.

Muir and Rasche were both 2-for-4 to lead JCC, and Brooke Klontz (five strikeouts, two walks) earned a complete-game victory for the Huskies.

Ashley Olson (2-for-4, RBI), Tara Sudenga (2-for-3, RBI) and Ellen Dahl (home run) led Luverne offensively, while Olson (two strikeouts, four walks) did the pitching for the Cardinals.

NEW ULM — Brittany Hoffmann tagged a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning Tuesday, accounting for the only scoring in second-seeded New Ulm’s 2-0 victory over JCC in the Section 3AA playoffs.

Moira Carlson pitched a complete game for JCC, while Marita Rasche was 2-for-3 at the plate.
