WORTHINGTON — The second annual Cop on Top fundraiser for Special Olympics Minnesota will begin at 6 p.m. today at Hy-Vee, beginning with Worthington Police Office Jacki Dawson on the top of the building.

For each $20 donated to SOMN, the donor’s name will be entered into a drawing for several prizes, including a $100 Hy-Vee gift certificate, a Memorial Auditorium ticket package from the Daily Globe, four 3-day passes to WeFest from Radio Works and an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.

From 6 to 10:30 p.m. today, 10 percent of all sales at Dairy Queen will go toward the SOMN fundraiser. Worthington Police Officer Brett Wiltrout and his K-9 partner Thor will be at Hy-Vee from 6 to 8 p.m., and Hy-Vee will offer a variety of discount opportunities throughout the 24-hour long event.

Officers will serve four-hour shifts throughout the night and into Friday, concluding at 6 p.m. Dawson has set a fundraising goal of $7,500.
