PIPESTONE — The Worthington Cubs were shelled by Pipestone Sunday, as the Cubs fell 11-1 in seven innings of amateur baseball action.
Brandon and Nate Alfson were each 2-for-4 with home runs, while Mark Abrahamson hit a three-run homer to lead Pipestone. Greg Quist got the win on the mound, pitching all seven innings, striking out six and walking two.
Adam Munkel had two hits and Josh Wasmund hit a solo homer for the Cubs (2-1).
The Cubs will host Fox Lake Wednesday.

Heron Lake 13, Mountain Lake 0
HERON LAKE — Pounding out a total of 12 hits and scoring seven runs in the bottom of the second Monday afternoon, the Heron Lake Lakers claimed a 13-0, seven-inning victory over the Mountain Lake Lakers in a First Nite League amateur baseball game at Laker Field.
Lon Eichenberger (2-for-3, two runs scored), Ethan Duffy (2-for-4, two doubles, three RBIs), Ben Scheevel (2-for-3, double, two RBIs) and Thomas Albrecht (2-for-4, triple, double, two RBIs) were among the top hitters for the Lakers.
Kirk McBreen (three runs scored), Matt Franks (RBI), Eric Milbrath (RBI) and Lance Knutson all cracked a single to round out Heron Lake’s offensive attack.
Scheevel (five innings, six strikeouts and no walks) and Eichenberger (two innings, one strikeout and no walks) combined to hurl a two-hit shutout for the Lakers, with both permitting just one base hit apiece.
Kyle Schroeder and Gary Blom each collected a single for Mountain Lake. Kyle Schroeder, Adam Schroeder and Steven Herrig handled the Lakers’ pitching chores.
Heron Lake, which is now 4-3 overall and 4-1 in league play after winning three games over the weekend, plays at Lakefield Wednesday night.

HERON LAKE — Thomas Albrecht delivered a game-winning RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the eighth Sunday afternoon, driving in Kirk McBreen from second base to lift the Heron Lake Lakers to an extra-inning victory over the Tracy Express in the opener of a First Nite/Gopher League amateur baseball doubleheader at Laker Field
Albrecht, who pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and struck out five of the nine batters he faced while allowing no runs, no hits and one walk to earn the win on the mound, also doubled and finished 2-for-2 at the plate in the scheduled seven-inning affair.
Alex Meyer (double), Lucas Knutson (RBI) and Ethan Duffy (RBI triple) also smacked two hits apiece for Heron Lake, while McBreen, Matt Franks and Octavio Jimenez each collected a base hit, as well.
Franks pitched the first 5 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four batters in a quality start for Heron Lake.
Tylan Gylling (three strikeouts, six walks) pitched a complete game for Tracy, while Andrew Mathiowetz (RBI), Andrew Suby, Jason Minett (RBI double) and Greg Barnes each smacked a base hit for the Express.
Tracy claimed a 9-7 victory over Windom later in the day at Heron Lake.

HERON LAKE — Striking with a pair of three-run outputs in the first and second innings, the Lakers completed the sweep with a weather-shortened victory over the Windom Pirates in the final game of the day Sunday at Laker Field. Lightning and rain prior to the start of the seventh inning forced the game to be called as an official contest after six complete frames.
Ethan Duffy earned the win on the mound, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks while fanning seven batters in four innings. Alex Meyer (three strikeouts, one walk) pitched two scoreless innings of no-hit ball to pick up the save for Heron Lake.
Duffy also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Lucas Knutson was 2-for-3 with an RBI double and three runs scored, while Matt Franks belted a key three-run double in the bottom of the first for the Lakers.
Brett Mattson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Windom offensively, while Chad Lindaman and Dane Nielsen each cracked a single. Nielsen, Kody Johnson and Tyler Knutson each saw time on the mound for the Pirates.

ADRIAN — Cameron Tow was 3-for-4, Guy Rudolph had two hits and Miah Fitzgerald gave up no runs and two hits in five innings on the mound to lead Fox Lake Sunday.
Hunter Sieperda was 3-for-3, Joe Kruger had two hits and Joe Klingenberg got the loss on the mound for Adrian.
Adrian will host Tracy Wednesday.

HADLEY — Max Zwart belted two doubles and drove in four runs Monday, leading the Hadley Buttermakers to a Gopher League amateur baseball victory over the Minneota Mudhens.
Paul Counter was 3-for-5 for Hadley, while Eric Wieneke (two RBIs), Joe Larson and Zach Bruns (two RBIs) added two hits apiece for the Buttermakers.
Jamie Boelter, Justin Reinsma and Bruns shared the pitching duties for Hadley (1-3), which plays at Wilmont Wednesday.
