WORTHINGTON — Worthington found out Sunday that it took second place in conference 5A in the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League, scoring a 72 behind Rogers High School’s 87.
The team was led by Ricky Prins, who finished in the top five every week, but one for Worthington, hitting 49 of 50 for his best week and Kyle Spessard, who has been a top five shooter for Worthington every week, hitting 50 of 50 for his top performance.
“The whole team contributes,” WHS coach Chris Kruse said. “We could name all our shooters.
“Of the 57 teams in the state, we should be in the top five. We’re looking for a strong showing. Our five-man team consistently hits 230 or more of 250.”
Worthington will be competing in the state tournament June 9 and 10 in Alexandria.
The Worthington gun squad would like to show its appreciation by hosting a gun raffle Friday at the Elks Club, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are still available for the gun raffle, which will take place at 7 p.m.
