AMATEUR BASEBALL: Cubs score 7 in the ninth to win 10-9

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Cubs scored seven runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to knock off Fox Lake in a 10-9 thriller Thursday in Worthington.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Cubs scored seven runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to knock off Fox Lake in a 10-9 thriller Thursday in Worthington.

Adam Munkel’s two-out, two-run double capped the comeback for the Cubs (3-1). Jerrad Meinders had an RBI single, Nate Harberts had an RBI single, Joe Joswiak had a two-run single and Joey Kinley worked a walk with the bases loaded in the final frame.

Also leading the Cubs was Toby Kerkaert (3-for-3) and Josh Wasmund (1-for-4, three runs).

Mitch Jenssen pitched 6 2/3 innings, striking out five, and Harberts picked up a win, pitching the final two innings for the Cubs. The Cubs will take on Hadley on the road Sunday.
