LAKEFIELD — Heron Lake scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to knock off Lakefield 3-0 in First Nite League amateur baseball action Wednesday.
HL’s Thomas Albrecht and Lakefield’s Bryce Christopher were matching one another pitch for pitch through the first eight innings, but the Lakers got to the Hornfrogs’ bullpen, getting five straight hits with one out in the top of the ninth.
Matt Franks (2-for-4) hit a two-run single to score Ethan Duffy (2-for-4) and Albrecht (1-for-4) to make it 2-0 and Ike Rogers (1-for-4) hit a double to score Franks and make it 3-0.
Albrecht went nine innings, striking out 12, walking five and giving up three hits for HL.
Christopher struck out 11 in eight innings on the mound for Lakefield, while Trevor Hage was 2-for-4 at the plate.
HL (5-3, 5-1) will host Luverne Saturday.

Adrian 14, Hadley 4
ADRIAN — Zach Dingmann struck out six in 6 2/3 innings and gave up three earned runs on the mound and went 3-for-5 with three RBIs at the plate to lead Adrian by Hadley in seven innings in amateur baseball action Wednesday.
Joe Kruger was 3-for-3 with a double and Glen Kruger was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to help pace Adrian (3-4).
Hadley was led by Zach Bruns’ three-run homer.
Adrian will travel to Milroy Sunday.
