LEGION BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Madsen’s single in the bottom of the 7th lifts Pipestone Legion over Edgerton 6-5

PIPESTONE — Phillip Madsen hit a single to score Brady Bos in the bottom of the seventh inning and give Pipestone Legion a 6-5 win over Edgerton Friday in Pipestone.

PIPESTONE — Phillip Madsen hit a single to score Brady Bos in the bottom of the seventh inning and give Pipestone Legion a 6-5 win over Edgerton Friday in Pipestone.

Jason Nettik was 2-for-4 with a run and Austin Evans was 1-for-3 with two runs to lead Pipestone.

Dominic Nibbelink was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, Blake Jouwstra was 1-for-2 with two runs, Devin Jouwstra was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs and Gabe Vander Veen gave up two earned runs in 4 1/3 innings, while striking out six, for Edgerton (1-1).

Edgerton will host Worthington Monday.

Luverne 15, Slayton 1

SLAYTON — Luverne Legion pitcher Reed Skattum did not give up a hit in five innings, while striking out seven and walking five, to get the win on the mound for Luverne in the team’s opener.

Josh Slieter was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, Connor Fitzer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs, Cody Christensen was 2-for-2 with three runs and Richard Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with three runs to lead Luverne.

Luverne will host Pipestone Tuesday.
