Flags to fly at half-staff today
WORTHINGTON — Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered all flags flown at half-staff today from sunrise until sunset in honor and remembrance of Navy Lt. William E. Swanson.
WORTHINGTON — Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered all flags flown at half-staff today from sunrise until sunset in honor and remembrance of Navy Lt. William E. Swanson.
Swanson was killed in action April 11, 1965, when the plane he was piloting was shot down while on an armed reconnaissance mission of enemy targets on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Enemy activity in the area precluded recovery of his remains at that time.
His remains were recovered in July 2010, and he was given with a burial with full military honors Monday, June 11, 2012.
