SLAYTON — Worthington VFW cruised by Slayton Monday in baseball action, winning Game 1 in a 12-1 dismantling and Game 2 by a score of 12-6.
“We played great defense and obviously we hit the ball,” Worthington coach T.D. Hostikka said.
Ryan Lee got the win in Game 1, throwing four innings, giving up one earned run and two hits, while striking out five. Tristan Sorenson was 3-for-4 with three runs, Trevor Wietzema was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs and Joe Pavelko was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs in Game 1 for Worthington (9-4).
In Game 2, Wietzema got the win on the mound, while Sorenson was 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs, Lee was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, Carson Hagen was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, Adrian Mannzo was 2-for-3 with two runs and Cole Dierks was 3-for-3 with three runs for Worthington.
Worthington will host Sacred Heart Wednesday.

Okabena 9, Fulda 5
FULDA — Mark Ferguson hit a two-run double to score Justin Jass andKyle Elder in the top of the eighth to give Okabena (2-1) a 7-5 lead and Okabena never looked back, knocking off Fulda in legion baseball action Monday.
Luke Henkels was 2-for-3, Eric Jass was 2-for-5 with two doubles, Alex Meier was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Oka bena. Justin Jass threw six innings, striking out nine and giving up two earned runs, while Henkels got the win in relief, giving up no earned runs in two innings, while striking out three.
Okabena will play today in Edgerton.

MORGAN — Boog Steiner, Taylor Christopher and Shadrach Wacker struck out seven combined and pitched a perfect game to lead Jackson in the four-inning game Monday.
Christopher had four hits, including a homer, to go along with five runs and seven RBIs. Mitchell Macek had five hits and score four runs and Andrew Dose had three hits for Jackson.
Jackson (2-0) will host Windom in a doubleheader Thursday.
