WORTHINGTON — Paige Kinley went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Worthington Area Girls 16-and-under softball to a 7-6 win over Fairmont in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday night.
Worthington Area jumped out to a two-run lead in the first on two hits. Both teams traded one and four runs in the second and third, respectively, but Worthington outlasted Fairmont to pull out the win.
Pitcher Ida Rogers-Ferguson got the win for Worthington Area, while going 1-for-3 in the batter’s box. Both Rebecca Linder and Aleanna Heig went 1-for-3 with Linder picking up an RBI.
In the second game, Worthington put up a fight, but lost the game 8-7.
Worthington Area scored three runs in the top of the first, but Fairmont put up six runs in the fourth to put them ahead for good.
Kinley went 1-for-2 with an RBI with Rogers-Ferguson and Betsy Thompson both getting hits.
Worthington Area (5-4) will play Maple River at St. James Thursday.

Worthington Area Storm win one, tie one
Christina Kazemba drove in four runs, while going 3-for-4 Tuesday night to lead the Worthington Area Storm to a 11-7 win over Cleveland in Game 1 of a doubleheader.
Worthington built an early lead on three runs in the first on their way to the win.
The Storm put up another five runs in the fourth to go up 9-1 before Cleveland scored three runs to pull within five.
Rachel Kontz went 3-for-3, while Angela Robinson and K.C. Riley both had three hits. Robinson also got the win, pitching four innings before Rebecca Kazemba came in to pitch the final two innings.
The second game ended in a 2-2 tie due to darkness. Kontz pitched all six innings, striking out nine and walking two. Kontz and Riley both went 3-for-3, while Brandie Timmerman and Kayla Lonneman went 1-for-3.
Worthington Area Storm (10-6-1) play again on Thursday at Jackson.
