PIPESTONE — Worthington VFW split a doubleheader with Pipestone Wednesday, losing 7-6 in Game 1 and winning 11-8 in Game 2.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Pipestone’s Walker Thomssdn knocked in Brady Bos (3-for-4, three RBIs) on a fielder’s choice to clinch the win for Pipestone.
Ryan Lee was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Trevor Wietzema was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Roque Soto was 1-for-3 with two runs for Worthington (16-8, 5-3).
After giving up eight runs in the bottom of the second inning of Game 2 to make it an 8-2 ballgame, Worthington responded with seven the very next inning en route to an 11-8 win.
Nate Braaksma got the win, Tristan Sorenson was 2-for-3 with a run, Wietzema was 1-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs and a homer and Soto was 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Post 3958 will travel to Adrian today.
