PREP BASKETBALL: WGTN 6th graders heading to state

ST. JOE — After winning their regional championship, the Worthington 6th grade girls’ basketball team now has a bigger task in front of them. The state championship.

ST. JOE — After winning their regional championship, the Worthington 6th grade girls’ basketball team now has a bigger task in front of them.

The state championship.

Worthington will face International Falls on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. in one of four quarterfinal matchups to be held that day. The game will be played at Clemens Field House at the College of St. Benedict with the winner going on to play the winner between Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton and Goodhue game at 3:25 p.m. Sunday.

The championship game will take place at 7:05 p.m. Sunday at Clemens Fieldhouse. The champion and runner-up of the tournament will be invited to play in the Pacesetter Great Four-State Championship at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Saturday, August 18.

The tournament will consist of the top two teams from Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.

All the championship games Sunday at St. Ben’s are open to the public.
