AMATEUR BASEBALL: Scheidt homers for Wilmont in 12-2 win over Hadley

WILMONT — Wilmont cruised by Hadley in amateur baseball action in the Gopher League 12-2 Tuesday in seven innings.

Jay Scheidt was a triple short of the cycle, finishing the day 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs and a stolen base to lead the way for Wilmont. Adam Diekmann was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, Steven Kremer was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI and Justin Saufley was 2-for-4 with two runs, a homer and three RBIs to help pace the Cardinals.

Lucas Henning got the start, going four innings and giving up two earned runs on five hits for Wilmont. Nick Ahrens got the win, pitching two innings and striking out one.

Wilmont will take on Milroy Saturday.
