WORTHINGTON — The next section of Minnesota 60, which is known as “TH 60 Phase III” from just south of the railroad bridge to just east of the Interstate 90 westbound ramps, is set to start Monday.
This is the last section of the highway being rebuilt by MnDOT in the Worthington area, and is set for a substantial completion date of Nov. 2, 2013.
From Monday through Friday, R and G Construction Co. will be creating two crossovers and three shoulder-widening sections. This work will require some lane closures, but traffic will still be allowed to travel along the current Minnesota 60 alignment without Minnesota 60 mainline detours associated with this phase of work in 2012.
After this work is completed, traffic will be routed so that two-way traffic is all on the northbound/eastbound lane. While traffic is switched over to the NB/EB lane, R and G Construction will begin to perform reconstruction work on a portion of the southbound/westbound lane as well as the I-90 westbound ramps (which will be closed during this time period). This work is scheduled to be done by Sept. 1.
While this work is proceeding, traffic that normally uses the westbound I-90 ramps to and from Minnesota 60 will be redirected to the I-90 interchange at US. 59.
