BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Meyer’s single lifts Okabena

HERON LAKE — Alex Meyer knocked in Jacob Olson with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give Okabena Legion an 11-10 win over Jackson Friday in baseball action.

HERON LAKE — Alex Meyer knocked in Jacob Olson with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give Okabena Legion an 11-10 win over Jackson Friday in baseball action.

Jackson scored two in the top of the seventh to tie it and set up Meyer’s last-inning heroics.

Meyer was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Justin Jass was 2-for-4 with a two-run double, Aaron Fest was 2-for-3 with two runs and Luke Henkels scored three runs to lead Okabena (9-5).

Kyle Elder picked up the win in relief, pitching 2 1/3 innings for Okabena.

Okabena will play Tuesday at Slayton.

Amateur baseball

Hadley 6, Pipestone 4

HADLEY — Pipestone tried to come back late, but it was not enough, as Hadley held off the A’s Friday in Gopher League amateur baseball action.

Justin Reinsma got the win on the mound and Zach Bruns picked up the save for Hadley (8-11, 7-7). Alex Petersen was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Nate Wieneke and Jake Wajer each went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help pace the Buttermakers.

Brandon Alfson picked up the loss on the mound for Pipestone, while Danny Moffitt hit a homer to lead the A’s at the plate.

Hadley will take on Hadley alumni at 2 p.m. and Adrian at 6 p.m. in Hadley Sunday.
