All this week, this newspaper is publishing profiles of each candidate who hopes to be elected this November to the Nobles County Board of Commissioners.

Each profile has been prepared by the candidate (and unedited by us) in response to questions asked by the Daily Globe. By publishing this information, we hope the public will begin taking the time to learn about the 14 individuals seeking to fill all five spots on the county board.

This year, of course, has been a noteworthy year for the board. There has been considerable talk about former administrator Mel Ruppert’s departure, for instance, and to say the county commissioners have received their share of criticism is an understatement.

Combine this with redistricting — resulting in all five district seats on the board being up for election — and there are many more county commission candidates than normal.

We’re pleased to see so many Nobles County citizens step forward and express their desire to serve in government. In turn, we hope the public will get educated about these folks by reading the Daily Globe, as well as by attending a candidates’ forum sponsored by this newspaper scheduled for 7 p.m. July 17 at the Worthington High School cafeteria. With the primary election scheduled for Aug. 14, it’s already time to start thinking about who will serve us best.
