Name: Donald Linssen
Commissioner District: 5
City or Township in which you reside: Worthington
Occupation: Retired Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety for the city of Worthington.
What qualifications do you have for seeking a county board seat? As the Police Chief for 15 years, I managed the budget for the department and supervised a staff of 24. I also served on the District 518 School Board for a number of years working with money management and personnel.
What is your top priority in county government? My top priority is to regain a good working relationship with our neighboring counties and cities. Our numbers are dwindling in population, which means we may have to pair and share with other governmental agencies in order to survive in the rural communities.
Explain ideas you have to address your top priority: Any areas in the county are open for discussion for ways that we can reduce costs and maintain a viable product for our county. Whether we pair or share with another city or county in equipment or offices, it will be necessary for our county to continue to move forward.
What would you like to see accomplished in the county in the next four years? Good working relationships with county employees. Open, transparent government with community input welcomed. Increased usage of county committees to promote further involvement by residents.
Additional comments: I do believe in term limits for those who are elected to an office to promote new ideas and creativity.
