Obituary: Helen Shriner

Helen L. Skillings Becker Shriner, age 78 of Faribault, formerly of Worthington, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Pleasant Manor, Faribault

Helen L. Skillings Becker Shriner, age 78 of Faribault, formerly of Worthington, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Pleasant Manor, Faribault.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault with the Rev. Jan Bodin officiating. Interment will be in Concordia Cemetery, North Morristown.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.

Helen Louise, the daughter of Davis and Natalia (Stassen) Skillings, was born August 17, 1933 in Ghent. She married Cliff Shriner in 1979 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was formerly employed by Campbell Soup, Meals for the Elderly by Southwestern MN Opportunity Council, HyVee and Worthington Daily Globe, all of Worthington. Helen was a foster grandparent at Roosevelt School in Faribault for many years. Helen was very proud of serving as a juror for the 1992 National Football League antitrust trial. She enjoyed her family, gardening, puzzles and board games.

She is survived by her children, Greg ‘Doc’ (Bonnie) Becker of Faribault, Judy Louise Becker of Dundas, and Kelley Becker of Okabena; granddaughters, Jennifer (and Darryl) Rowell and Amy Becker; great-granddaughter, Talia Rowell; sister, Delores Flynn; and brother, John Skillings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Oliver Becker; sisters, Lucille Leibfried and Mary Ann Merth; brothers, Edward Skillings and Robert Skillings.
