LEGION BASEBALL: Worthington Legion headed to elimination game versus New Ulm

FAIRMONT — Worthington Legion lost the first game of the playoffs Thursday 9-2 against Sleepy Eye, but got a 10-0 win against Mankato Friday to force an elimination game against New Ulm Gold today.

FAIRMONT — Worthington Legion lost the first game of the playoffs Thursday 9-2 against Sleepy Eye, but got a 10-0 win against Mankato Friday to force an elimination game against New Ulm Gold today.

In Thursday’s game against Sleepy Eye, Nate Jensen got the loss for Worthington, going only 1 and 2/3 innings and giving up nine earned runs.

Devon Soderholm came in to relieve Jensen and pitched the final 7 1/3 innings. Soderholm had ten strikeouts while only allowing one walk on four hits.

Blake Rogers had two hits for Worthington in the 9-2 loss.

In Friday’s game, Lucas Henning picked up the win, pitching seven innings with seven strikeouts, no walks and giving up six hits.

Henning, Rogers and Alex Hayenga all had two hits in the game for Worthington.

Worthington Legion plays New Ulm Gold today at 1 p.m. in an elimination game in Fairmont.
