Hamilton receives CGMC award

ST. PAUL — Rep. Rod Hamilton was recognized by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) July 26 during the Coalition’s three-day summer conference in Owatonna for his positive impact on economic development policy.

Hamilton, R-Mountain Lake, is serving his fourth term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. The Legislator of Distinction Award is given to legislators who played key roles in advancing CGMC’s policy during the preceding session.

As the final preparations of the House tax bill were taking place, Hamilton worked with other Greater Minnesota legislators to ensure that CGMC’s Greater Minnesota Internship Program and Angel Investment Tax Credit enhancement provisions were included in the omnibus tax bills. He also spoke strongly in favor of the CGMC economic development provisions on the House floor.

“Throughout his legislative service, Rep. Hamilton has been a tireless advocate for strong Greater Minnesota communities,” said CGMC President Alan Oberloh, Mayor of Worthington. “His work, both publicly and behind the scenes, was instrumental in building support and advancing the CGMC’s economic development proposals in the 2012 session.”

CGMC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization representing 80 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Coalition educates legislators about issues important to Greater Minnesota.
