On Friday, Aug. 10, I took a break from campaigning and attended “The Music Man.” Boy am I glad I did! What a delightful way to spend an evening.

It was so nice to see people I know “putting on a show” the way they did in the old Andy Rooney movies.

Eric Parrish deserves kudos for his directing, Margaret Vosburgh for her leadership and all the crew for their countless hours backstage and on stage.

The cast was wonderful. While I will mention a few who stood out for me, I thought everyone did an excellent job in their roles whether in the chorus or front and center.

Julie Wellnitz as Marian — I knew she could sing, but what a voice; Jeff Ling as Charlie Cowell, Colin O’Donnell as Harold Hill, the quartet of Adam Vosburgh, Stephen Woitalewicz, Jake Van Grouw, and Michael Benitez; Caleb Dirksen as Tommy Djilas — what moves, and Daniel Anderson as Marcellus (I can’t stop seeing “Shipoopi” in my mind’s eye).

Worthington and the entire area should be proud of what this group accomplished by working together.

Thank you to all involved for putting on a great night of entertainment.
