MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A campaign spokesman for state Sen. Mike Parry says Parry has conceded to Allen Quist in their 1st District House primary.

Ben Golnik says Parry conceded late Tuesday night. Quist, a former state representative, led by nine points with 83 percent of the unofficial vote counted.

Quist will face Democratic Rep. Tim Walz in November after a tough fight with Parry, who dredged up provocative comments Quist made on social issues decades ago.

Quist is a 67-year-old retired political science professor who represented St. Peter in the Legislature in the 1980s.
