PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Westbrook-Walnut Grove outlasts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers beat Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in five games for their first victory of the season Friday night. The Chargers took the first game 25-22 over T-M-B on the back of Paige Erickson’s 15 kills on the night.

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers beat Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in five games for their first victory of the season Friday night.

The Chargers took the first game 25-22 over T-M-B on the back of Paige Erickson’s 15 kills on the night.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove also picked up a win in the second game 25-21 led by Kelsi Wahl (nine kills) and Madison Takle’s (12 digs) three aces apiece on the night. Dayna Comnick also had an ace while also racking up 13 kills and 13 digs.

The Chargers dropped the third and fourth games to T-M-B by scores of 25-15 and 25-23.

In the fifth game, Westbrook-Walnut Grove came away with the win with help from Abby Herding’s 13 digs and 44 assists in the match.

The Chargers host Lincoln HI at home on Aug. 28 at 6:15 p.m.

Luverne falls to St. James

LUVERNE — The Luverne Cardinals lost to St. James three games to one Friday night in Luverne.

The Cardinals would win the first game 25-23 with the help of 10 kills by Cardinals Taylor Stratton and seven kills a piece from Amanda Barnhart and Logan Herman in the match.

St. James took the win in Game 2 by a score of 25-22 despite 13 digs from Luverne’s Ashlinn Curtis and Erica DeBoer on the night.

The third game went to St. James 25-23, even with the Cardinal’s Ashley Olson picking up 20 assists in the match.

The Cardinals would try and fight back in the fourth game, but St. James was too much for them, taking the game 25-22.

Luverne plays at Hills-Beaver Creek Aug. 28 at 5 p.m.
