NORTHROP — The Adrian Dragons volleyball team won their first match of the season, beating Luther-GHEC Monday in Northrop.
The Dragons took the first game 25-20 on the back of 13 kills from Courtney Vaske on the night.
In the second game, Luther-GHEC battled back, but ultimately lost the game 27-25.
Game 3 ended the same way as the first game, with Adrian winning 25-20.
Corie Reckamp picked up nine kills for the Dragons, while Kayla Lonneman had six kills of her own. Rachel Kontz had 39 set assists, while Carly Wolf was 18-for-20 with two aces while serving. Vaske also had five blocks and 22 digs.
Wolverines drop season opener to Springfield
MOUNTAIN LAKE — The Mountain Lake Area Wolverines volleyball team dropped their season opener to Springfield 3-0 Monday night in Mountain Lake.
Springfield was able to overpower Mountain Lake Area, winning the first game 25-17.
In the second game, Springfield once again dominated the floor, holding the Wolverines to just 15 points.
In the final game of the night, the Wolverines were only able to muster 14 points before Springfield closed out the game 25-14.
Rachel Dukes had 20 set assists, while Janessa Peters had two aces and 10 kills for the Wolverines. Carmen Syverson was 7-for7 on the serve while also picking up two blocks.
The Wolverines play Thursday at 7 p.m. against Windom in Windom.
