PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Huskies stay perfect on the season

JACKSON — The Jackson County Central Huskies moved to 3-0 and 1-0 on the season with a 3-0 sweep of the Luverne Cardinals 25-6, 25-11, 25-11 in volleyball action.

JACKSON — The Jackson County Central Huskies moved to 3-0 and 1-0 on the season with a 3-0 sweep of the Luverne Cardinals 25-6, 25-11, 25-11 in volleyball action.

Kaylee Burmeister had five aces, eight digs and 10 kills for JCC while teammate Lydia Brandt picked up two blocks and seven kills of her own. Sydnee Donnelli picked up five aces with five kills, while Sydney Nyborg had three blocks and three kills.

Michele Van Eps picked up nine digs and 25 set assists for the Cardinals while Taylor Stratton had three blocks and Ellen Dahl had one ace, six digs and two kills.

Jackson plays Saturday at a tournament in Shakopee starting at 9 a.m.

Luverne will host the Luverne Invite and face Blue Earth Area Saturday at 9 a.m.

Windom 3,

Redwood Valley 0

WINDOM — The Windom Eagles’ volleyball team took down Redwood Valley 24-15, 25-13, 25-11 Thursday in Windom.

Hali Tasler had six aces, six kills and 11 digs for the Eagles, while Jasmine Carlson picked up four aces and 18 kills. Holly Larson smashed 11 kills of her own with teammate Rachel Sorensen picking up five more kills. Shelby Mattson also had 17 set assists for the Eagles.

Windom (3-0, 1-0) will play in the Makato West Tournament this Saturday at 9 a.m.

SWC 3, W-WG 2

WESTBROOK — The Southwest Christian Eagles won a close match against the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers 25-23, 22-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-13 in volleyball action Thursday in Westbrook.

Amber Pater had six aces, 19 kills and 27 digs to lead the Eagles past the Chargers, while teammate Carissa Tinklenberg picked up nine kills. Tianna Top had eight blocks and Hanna Van Dyke had 26 set assists.

Dayna Comnick had four aces, seven kills and 20 digs for the Chargers, while Abby Herding picked up 38 set assists. Haliey Osland had three aces, eight kills, 15 digs and two blocks, while Paige Erickson added 21 kills for the Chargers.

The Chargers host a tournament Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. in Westbrook.

SWC will play in the Luverne tournament Saturday at 9 a.m.

SWU 3, Edgerton 0

OKABENA — The Southwestern United Wildcats picked up another win Thursday when they defeated Edgerton 25-11, 25-13, 25-10 in volleyball action Tuesday.

Courney Place had 10 kills and two aces to lead SWU while Alyssa Hendrickson had five kills and three blocks.

Sarah Post had four kills and six digs for Edgerton while Jessica Menning picked up five digs and eight set assists.

SWU (2-1, 1-0) will play in the Marshall tournament Saturday while Edgerton travels to Luverne for a tournament.

RCC 3, H-BC 0

JEFFERS — The Red Rock Central Falcons took down the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots 25-16, 25-16, 25-17 Thursday in Jeffers.

Katie Larsen went 15-for-15 on the serve with two aces, while Chloe Arfsten was 16-for-17 with one ace of her own, along with 10 digs and five kills for RRC. Mikaela Smith had 11 set assists, while teammate Tegan Derickson had 10 set assists to go along with her team-leading seven kills.

Jessica Sandbulte was 10-for-10 on the serve along with 15 digs, while Hattie Van Wyhe had 14 digs of her own for H-BC. Meghan Leuthold was 10-for-10 on the serve with five kills, while Paige Leuthold was 15-for-16 with 12 set assists.

H-BC (0-2, 01) plays in the Central Lyon Tournament Saturday in Rock Rapids while RRC (1-3, 1-0) will host Worthington Monday.

MLA 3, Fulda 1

FULDA — The Mountain Lake Area Wolverines defeated the Fulda Raiders 25-16, 16-25, 25-22, 25-17 Thursday in Mountain Lake in volleyball action.

Rachel Dukes picked up 24 set assists for MLA, while Jenessa Peters had 13 kills and Jordan Syverson added five kills of her own. Paige Brown picked up another four kills for the Wolverines, while Briana Wolff went 23-for-23 on the serve and also had seven digs.

Rachel Cheadle had seven kills, seven set assists and five blocks for Fulda, while Myah Holinka had seven kills and Amanda Schumacher picked up another six kills. Brittney Hermeling was 13-for-16 on the serve with six aces while Randi Tiesler was 15-for-15 with another three aces.

MLA plays in the Sleepy Eye Tournament Saturday while Fulda plays in the Westbrook Tournament Saturday.
