WORTHINGTON — There were plenty of people over at Pioneer Village Monday night for the King Turkey Day mixer, and it was sure nice to witness the recognition of the Parade Marshal and Honorary Turkey (you can see the picture on page A7). Worthington’s big week is now officially under way.

While there’s a lot to get excited about over the course of the next few days — I can’t wait to see Paycheck, the Usain Bolt of turkey racing, sprint down 10th Street Saturday afternoon — I’m really looking forward to Saturday night. I’m hoping to have a special roost set up in the Worthington Arena so I can catch Hairball’s performance.

“What’s Hairball?” you may ask. Well, a visit to hairballonline.com will give you the lowdown. If you’re a fan of bands like Kiss, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Poison and others of a particular ’80s hard-rock vintage, you won’t want to miss this show. You can stop by the Chamber office at 1121 Third Ave. to get tickets, and I’m pretty sure other local businesses are selling them, too — and they can also be purchased on the Hairball web site.

I first heard about this whole Hairball thing a few months ago, and ever since then excitement has been building for his show. And, given this year’s Turkey Day theme is “For Those About To Flock” (a KTD play on a classic AC/DC title), many will be geared up for a big-time show.

I know I mentioned my special roost earlier, but I’m hoping there will be a few others like me there, too. Maybe a cute hen or two, even. I hear rock ‘n’ roll shows can get a little wild, and this bird is ready to fly.

OK, Turk ... relax, old boy, relax. You’re getting a little too old for some of this stuff. Besides, the missus would knock the stuffing out of you!
