WORTHINGTON — The Worthington girls’ tennis team fell 5-2 against Martin County West Tuesday in Worthington.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington girls’ tennis team fell 5-2 against Martin County West Tuesday in Worthington.

Worthington’s Emily Williamson lost in No. 1 singles to MCW’s Kelci Russenberger 6-2, 6-3, while Rachel Drietz lost to Tori Russenberger 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.

The Trojans’ two wins came in No. 3 and No. 4 singles with Kirsten Aljets beating Magan Suter in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and Annie Lesnar taking down Ily Schlenk 6-3, 6-4.

Worthington was swept in its three varsity doubles matches. In No. 1 doubles, Trojans Kate Lesnar and Elizabeth Luke fell to Shawna Dressen and Emily Lawrence 6-2, 6-4, while Brianna Kempema and Laura Wetering lost to KaLeigh Russenberger and Jennifer Hagen 6-3, 6-2.

In No. 3 doubles, the Trojans’ team of Makensie Carstensen and Sarah Janssen lost to MCW’s Bailey Ebeling and Alisa Russenberger 6-0, 6-3.

In JV doubles, Ashley Jansma and Kara Honius won their match 8-2 over Harley Holtz and Brooke Forstrom, while Alicia Khatt and Erika Schutte won their match 8-0.

Paige Stewart and Yadira Barragan lost in the last doubles match of the day 8-1.

Worthington play at Redwood Valley Thursday.
