LUVERNE — The 62nd annual Tri-State Band Festival will be Sept. 29 with a parade and field competition featuring 26 bands.
The parade competition begins at 10 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Luverne, with the field competition to begin at 12:30 p.m. at Cardinal Field, 709 N. Kniss Ave.
Nineteen marching bands will fill the parade route, with the Glen’s Coffee Clique Last Man Club serving as parade marshals. Sixteen bands will participate in the field competition.
Admission to the field competition is by Tri-State Band Festival buttons. Buttons can be purchased during the parade or at the gate. The 62nd annual Tri-State Band Festival Booklet will also be on sale.
2012 participating bands are: Aberdeen, Brandon Valley, Brookings, Garretson, Lennox, Madison, Milbank, Mitchell, O’Gorman, Parkston, Rapid City Central, Sioux Falls Lincoln, Sioux Falls Roosevelt and West Central high schools in South Dakota; Adrian, Murray County Central, Pipestone Area, Stewartville, Tracy Area and Worthington schools in Minnesota; and Boyden-Hull, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sioux Center and West Lyon schools in Iowa. Host bands are Luverne Middle School and high school.
