FERGUS FALLS — The Lady Jays volleyball team won in five games over MSCTC-Fegus Falls Wednesday in Fergus Falls.
The first game went to Fergus Falls 28-26, but MW was able to fight back and tie the match at one game a piece with a win in Game 2, 25-23.
“The girls worked really well together as a team tonight,” MW coach Marie Johnson said. “We moved together and picked each other up the whole game.”
The Lady Jays lost the third game 25-22, but came back once again with another win in Game 4 to force a fifth set.
“At times we took steps back, but then we picked ourselves up and refocused,” Johnson said.
MW took the fifth set 15-11 to take the game 3-2.
“We had a lot of strong hits and played some strong volleyball tonight,” Johnson said.
Katey Granstra led the Lady Jays in kills with 22, while Brittany Hulstein picked up 15 kills of her own to go along with five aces and 19 digs. Lindsey Drooger had 14 kills and Mara Eichenberger had 50 set assists in the game. Madie Rasche picked up 18 digs for the Lady Jays to round out the defense.
“I hope we can take the momentum we gained tonight with us on the road,” Johnson. “We still need to build as a team if we want to keep winning game.”
The Lady Jays stay on the road when they travel to Anoka Ramsey Friday.
