As others see it: Congress adjourned in simple failure

Congress basically called it quits a long time before adjourning Friday.

Frankly, both political parties have failed in leadership, resulting in one of the least productive sessions of Congress in history.

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., should be ashamed of themselves and their leadership during this Congress.

They both deserve a simple “F” in performance as well as leadership.

The House and Senate spent most of the week pointing a finger at each other for the legislative failures of this Congress.

The current leadership in the House and the Senate is not working hard enough to address the nation’s problems.

In fact, the political agendas of the respective parties are taking priority over the needs of this nation. It has been political posturing every single day of the session by both sides.

The scheduled adjournment yesterday was the earliest date for the Congress to adjourn since 1960.

Following the November election, Congress will go back into a “lame-duck session” to address a number of critical issues, including the expiration of Bush tax cuts expiration and the $109 billion across-the-board spending cuts mandated by last year’s budget deal.

Congress has become dysfunctional to the point of becoming ineffective.

It is simply disgusting.
