TROJAN GIRLS' TENNIS: Trojan girls’ tennis falls to Sabers

SHAKOPEE — Rachel Drietz picked up the only win for the No. 7 seed Trojan girls’ tennis team in their first round loss to the No. 2 seed Shakopee Sabers in the Section 2AA South girls tennis team tournament Tuesday.
No. 1 singles player Kate Lesnar fell 6-0, 6-0 to Haley Lickfold of Shakopee, while Sabers No. 2 singles player Dannick Boyogueno took down Emily Williamson 6-0, 6-0.
Serina Fischer took down Trojans’ Elizabeth Luke 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. The Sabers looked to sweep the singles matches, but Drietz was able to win her match at No. 4 singles over Alison Kudrle 6-3, 7-5.
The Sabers were able to get their sweep in the doubles games, with Joelle Lindstrom and Taylor Koenen defeating Trojan doubles team Brianna Kempema and Annie Lesnar 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles.
Shakopee’s Jessica Svac and Kayla Schmidt won their No. 2 doubles match over Laura Wetering and Kirsten Aljets 6-2, 6-2. In No. 3 doubles, Makensie Carstensen and Sarah Janssen fell to Abby Wondrasch and Madeline Myers 6-3, 6-2.
In JV action, Kara Honius and Ashley Jansma won their doubles match 8-3, while Jansma and her second partner Erika Schutte won their match 8-2. Alicia Khatt took her singles match 6-4.
With the loss, the Trojans are done for the season and Shakopee moves on to the second round on Thursday.
