MANKATO — With a regular season record of 5-7-1, the Trojan boys’ soccer team secured a ninth seed going into the Section 2A soccer tournament.
The boys will play Mankato Loyola Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Good Counsel Campus. Loyola defeated the Trojans 1-0 earlier this week in Mankato.
In the girls’ division, the Trojan girls’ soccer team received the No. 14 seed and will face No. 3 Mankato West at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Dakota Meadows Middle School in Mankato. The girls lost to Mankato West 1-0 at the end of September at home.
Other match-ups in the boys’ division include No. 15 New Prague facing off against No. 2 Mankato West, No. 14 Glencoe-Silver Lake traveling to No. 3 Mankato East and No. 13 Central Minnesota Christian taking on No. 4 St. Peter.
Rounding out the boys’ division is No. 12 Hutchinson heading to No. 5 Waseca, No. 11 New Ulm battling No. 6 Southwest Minnesota Christian and No. 10 Marshall duking it out with No. 7 Wilmar. No. 1 seed Fairmont has a bye in the first round.
Winners will play Saturday at the higher seed.
The girls’ division match-ups will feature games between No. 15 Hutchinson and No. 2 New Ulm, No. 13 Fairbault taking on No. 4 St. Peter and No. 12 Glencoe-Silver Lake heading to No. 5 Albert Lea. Willmar received the 11 seed and travels to No. 6 Waseca, while No. 10 Mankato Loyola faces off with No. 7 New Prague. The last match of the first round is between No. 9 Austin and No. 8 Fairmont. Mankato East received a bye along with their No. 1 seed.
Winners will play again Thursday at the higher seed.
