Letter: Romney, Ryan would bring real change

As a very important election approaches, we need to ask ourselves these questions. Where are we? How did we get here? Is our present course wise, responsible and sustainable? We need to look at this unselfishly, not as a special-interest group (seniors, labor, farmers, etc.). This has been a land of opportunity and still the best place on earth to live, and we need to preserve it for following generations.

The Tea Party has been maligned by leftists, liberals, RINOs, a self-serving bureaucracy and others. The Tea Party advocates:

* Constitutional government. The men who wrote this did so to give us freedom and save us from a tyrannical, overreaching government.

* Fiscal responsibility. Everything has to be paid for, either now or later with interest.

President Obama was elected on the promise of hope and change. His own party was in control of both houses for two years. He has done two things — burdened us with massive debt and consolidated more power in Washington. Our own senators, Klobuchar and Franken, and Rep. Walz simply fell in line.

We can’t afford more people going to St. Paul and Washington with their hat in their hand coming back and announcing to every special-interest group, “Look what I’ve got for you.” The question should be, What did you to ... control spending, cut waste, enhance freedom and opportunity, ensure national security, etc.

Government cannot create productive jobs. Individuals and private industries can if the government gets out of the way.

Mitt Romney has proven he can run successful businesses and knows how to manage money. This is something that Washington cannot claim.

Paul Ryan has gone against the establishment and recognized we are headed for financial disaster. He has had the courage and conviction to take a stand.

These two give us reason for hope and the right kind of change.
